I’ve just had an e-mail from a Mrs Trellis of North Wales asking for creative and/or Youth friendly versions of the Creed? Despite an extensive trawl of the folders on my trusty laptop I cannot find anything … or even point to a source. Can you help?
I believe you can!

  1. Hi, I’m Edwin from South Africa. Some years ago I wrote the following Youth creed. Feel free to use it if you think it is useful:
    I believe in God,
Who created all human beings in his own image
Who has used and continues to use young people to do his will.
Who chose young Moses to lead his people from slavery to freedom
Who chose young Samuel to be his prophet
Who chose young David to become the greatest king of Israel
Who chose young Jeremiah to pluck up and to break down, to destroy and to demolish, to build and to plant
Who promised through Joel that the sons and daughters will prophesy and that the young men will dream dreams.
    I believe in Jesus Christ
Who was conceived by a young woman, Mary.
Who as a young man stood up against the hypocrisy of the religious people of his day
Who as a young man was crucified and who destroyed death through his death and resurrection.
I believe in the Holy Spirit
    The spirit of unity
The spirit of truth and love
The spirit of justice and reconciliation
The spirit who blows where she wills.
I believe that young people are part of the one, holy, catholic and apostolic church, built up by young Timothy.
That young people are a part of the church of today and will be part of the church of tomorrow.
I believe that young people are empowered by the Spirit of God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit
To take their rightful place in God’s church and in God’s world. Amen.
