Plans are on to make Sunday 10th October a global day of doing, with thousands of practical carbon-cutting activities all over the world.
The 10:10 campaign has teamed up with 350.org to co-ordinate 10:10:10 to be the biggest-ever day of positive action on climate change. The aim is to see, "thousands of individuals, families, schools, businesses and other organisations taking simple steps to save energy and reduce emissions. These ordinary actions, combined with a series of bold, iconic stunts, will make an extraordinary difference. Not only will they cut carbon directly; they will also send a powerful message to world leaders that people and organisations everywhere are ready to tackle climate change. Here's the info
Oh and while we are talking about creation and environmental concern, here's a great thing that you could do with the youth group. Check out Inspired on the Diocesan "Earthing Faith" site and submit a creation moment that inspires you or your group.

"Do you know any young people who are passionate about taking action on climate change? If they are aged 14-17 and based in the UK, this could be their opportunity to get involved and speak out on the issue in front of a global audience.
This December, UNICEF and the city of Copenhagen will host a Children's Climate Forum. The forum will bring together young people from all over the world who will share their views on how we should face up to the threat of climate change.
And world leaders will listen. Following the children's forum, there will be a high-level meeting of decision makers representing every country in the world, which could potentially lead to an historic agreement on how to tackle climate change.
Four young people from the UK will travel to Copenhagen for the forum. To secure a place on the team, entrants must submit a short video or written piece via our YouTube channel. The piece should answer these three questions:
- Why is climate change an important issue to you?
- What can young people do about climate change - and how would you encourage them to take action if you were to go to Copenhagen?
- What do you think the world leaders should decide at their meeting in Copenhagen?
The deadline for uploading entries is 12 noon on Wednesday 15 July 2009"

I've had a question from a Mrs Trellis of North Wales, she asks:
"I'm doing a Sunday morning session on looking after the environment in a couple of weeks time as part of a whole church thing about being green etc.................was just wondering if you know of any resources/session plans/ideas on that area that could be used for teenagers on a Sunday morning (we have about 45mins-1hr to play with)?"
I wasn't an enormous amount of help other than point to this video, and saying that I'd love to see more positive stuff around "The Earth is the Lord's", stewardship et al rather than the whole 'guilt, bad, horror .... YOU need to change YOUR light bulb!"

Brilliant campaign by Greenpeace that's trying to get Apple to stop lagging so far behind on Green issues and start being a leader! As so many Youth Ministry bods and Emerging types are Mac-minded, I thought I should flag it up!
