Merry Christmas Kids

treegif.gif
Well Merry Christmas Kids (this is more inclusive than it sounds as I’m working from the Nat King Cole definition from his Christmas song where kids are, and I quote, “1 – 92”). Every blessing for a time of community, rest, joy and wonder.
I’m working up until the evening of the 23rd and then I am looking forward to time with family and friends ….. and not looking forward to a 6000 word essay that needs to be written, eek!
Back at the desk on the morning of the 5th January

Comedy Update

Ian Macdonald christmas comedy .jpg
Great evening at ACE SPACE for the annual charity Christmas bash, a cracking party it was. I was asked to do 10 minutes (well chuffed to have been asked). I feel like I’m learning and developing albeit slowly. I reckon the gig was mostly a ‘7’* but I managed to dip into a ‘6’ briefly with an idea that turned out to not be as funny as I thought (doh!) Was pleased with the finish though which felt back into the realms of ‘7’
Confessed my Birmingham roots last night and there is definitely some comedic scope in my Brummie identity it seems, ‘r, that’s just the way it is I reckon, bostin!’
This was gig number 7
Setting myself the goal of 24 gigs in 2015

Mary, er babby an a bostin tale

Loving this nativity from near my part of the world, fab. I love the fact too that this was written in 1968 by a Sunday School teacher to put the Christmas story into the local dialect.
“Oom you?” er asked, “yo day arf gie me a tern.”
“Doh be scared,” answered the bloke. “I wo urt ya. Me name’s Gabriel, an arm an angel.”
“Yo ay, am yer?” said Mary.
“I am,” ee replied. “An I’ve cum to tell ya summat.
“What?” said Mary, cause er was thinking what a carry on this was.
Yo’m gooin ter av a babby.”
