Ladz Weekend

This weekend saw the (sort of) annual get together for me and a bunch of my friends from way back in the day, when we were all in a Youth Group together. The weekend was the usual mix of humour, conviviality, walking and eating ... and included a stroll to Westons Cider which was a highly enjoyable experience.

We, much to our amusement, learnt that one of our number had been describing our impending weekend thusly:

Well, it's what was best defined as a lads weekend ... but is increasingly more of an episode of 'Last of the Summer Wine'

We also spent a considerable amount of time using the positive form of words for which in reality only the negative exists. By that I mean, something can be inept but we'd use the word ept to mean competent. We discovered a quote about a Jazz musician who didn't quite fit the mold and the reason given was that he was "kempt, couth and shevelled!" We managed to find a great range of such words but may have thrown Westons a little when we cheerily remarked that one of the Ciders was (and here was really murdering the etymology) 'gusting'

A great weekend!
